Seoul in December

Not the best time

Seoul starts its winter transformation with manageable cold and holiday spirit. Not quite brutal yet, but you'll want to stick close to heated spaces and hot Korean stews.

Weather

December brings winter's first bite with temperatures dropping toward freezing. Snow becomes possible while humidity plummets, creating dry, cold conditions. Clear, sunny days alternate with gray, harsh ones.

All Months

Spring (March-May) is Seoul at its most beautiful. Cherry blossoms bloom along the Han River in early April, and temperatures hover around 15-20°C (59-68°F). Book hotels early – this is peak season and prices reflect it. Fall (September-November) rivals spring for perfect weather. October temperatures around 18°C (64°F) make walking comfortable, and autumn leaves turn Namsan Park into a postcard. Plus, it's persimmon season – street vendors sell them everywhere. Summer (June-August) brings humidity that feels like breathing through a wet towel. Temperatures hit 30°C (86°F) with 80% humidity. But Seoul adapts – underground shopping centers become refuges, and cold noodle dishes like naengmyeon appear on every menu. Winter (December-February) is brutal but beautiful. Temperatures drop to -10°C (14°F), but Christmas markets pop up in Myeongdong and ice skating rinks open along the Han River. Hotel prices drop significantly.
