Seoul in July

Not the best time

Seoul's most challenging month. The weather is genuinely miserable, but you'll experience the city like a local and pay the lowest prices of the year.

Weather

July unleashes Seoul's full monsoon fury with oppressive humidity and heavy rainfall. Temperatures soar above 30°C while humidity hovers near 80%. The rain comes in torrential bursts that can shut down parts of the city.

July Tips

  • Accept that you'll be drenched in sweat or rain (or both)
  • Mall-hopping becomes a legitimate activity - hit COEX or Lotte World Tower
  • Ice-cold naengmyeon (cold noodles) becomes a survival necessity

All Months

Spring (March-May) is Seoul at its most beautiful. Cherry blossoms bloom along the Han River in early April, and temperatures hover around 15-20°C (59-68°F). Book hotels early – this is peak season and prices reflect it. Fall (September-November) rivals spring for perfect weather. October temperatures around 18°C (64°F) make walking comfortable, and autumn leaves turn Namsan Park into a postcard. Plus, it's persimmon season – street vendors sell them everywhere. Summer (June-August) brings humidity that feels like breathing through a wet towel. Temperatures hit 30°C (86°F) with 80% humidity. But Seoul adapts – underground shopping centers become refuges, and cold noodle dishes like naengmyeon appear on every menu. Winter (December-February) is brutal but beautiful. Temperatures drop to -10°C (14°F), but Christmas markets pop up in Myeongdong and ice skating rinks open along the Han River. Hotel prices drop significantly.
