April through September brings Trincomalee's dry season — perfect beach weather with minimal rainfall. The northeast monsoon hits other parts of Sri Lanka during these months, making Trinco a smart escape. May and June offer the calmest seas for swimming and snorkeling. July and August see more tourists but still feel uncrowded compared to southern beaches. Hotel prices peak during these months. It's actually perfect weather — cooler temperatures and fewer crowds. October through March brings the northeast monsoon. Heavy rains and rough seas make beach activities impossible. Many guesthouses close during this period. But temple visits remain rewarding year-round. Avoid December and January entirely unless you enjoy tropical storms. The town essentially shuts down during peak monsoon months.
