Tulum in August
Not the best time
The wettest, most humid month with hurricane season adding extra uncertainty. Rock-bottom prices and empty beaches, but weather disruptions can seriously impact your plans.
Weather
August continues the wet season intensity with almost daily thunderstorms and suffocating humidity. Hurricane season also peaks now, though direct hits are rare. Expect hot, sticky conditions interrupted by dramatic downpours.

August Tips
- •Monitor hurricane forecasts closely
- •Indoor cenotes like Dos Ojos are perfect rainy day activities
- •Many restaurants reduce hours due to low tourist numbers
All Months
November through April is peak season for good reason – dry weather, minimal humidity, and trade winds that keep mosquitoes manageable. December and January are perfect but expect crowds and high prices. March hits the sweet spot of great weather before spring break madness.
May through October brings rain, heat, and humidity that can be brutal. But here's the upside – hotel rates drop 50%, cenotes feel refreshing instead of shocking, and you'll have ruins mostly to yourself. Just pack serious bug spray.
Avoid late September through early November – hurricane season peaks, and many beach clubs close for maintenance. The ruins close during severe weather, which defeats half the purpose of coming.
For the best experience, arrive Tuesday or Wednesday to avoid weekend crowds from Cancún and Playa del Carmen day-trippers.
