Great time to visit

Still fantastic weather but getting noticeably hotter during the day. Spring break madness hits mid-month, so expect party crowds and inflated prices at beach clubs.

Weather

March starts ramping up the heat but humidity remains manageable. Expect hot afternoons around 30°C but pleasant mornings and evenings. Still part of the dry season with occasional light showers.

March Tips

  • Spring breakers flood in mid-month - book early or avoid March 15-30
  • Mornings before 10am are golden for ruins visits
  • Pack extra sunscreen - UV is intense

All Months

November through April is peak season for good reason – dry weather, minimal humidity, and trade winds that keep mosquitoes manageable. December and January are perfect but expect crowds and high prices. March hits the sweet spot of great weather before spring break madness. May through October brings rain, heat, and humidity that can be brutal. But here's the upside – hotel rates drop 50%, cenotes feel refreshing instead of shocking, and you'll have ruins mostly to yourself. Just pack serious bug spray. Avoid late September through early November – hurricane season peaks, and many beach clubs close for maintenance. The ruins close during severe weather, which defeats half the purpose of coming. For the best experience, arrive Tuesday or Wednesday to avoid weekend crowds from Cancún and Playa del Carmen day-trippers.
