All Months
November through April is peak season for good reason – dry weather, minimal humidity, and trade winds that keep mosquitoes manageable. December and January are perfect but expect crowds and high prices. March hits the sweet spot of great weather before spring break madness.
May through October brings rain, heat, and humidity that can be brutal. But here's the upside – hotel rates drop 50%, cenotes feel refreshing instead of shocking, and you'll have ruins mostly to yourself. Just pack serious bug spray.
Avoid late September through early November – hurricane season peaks, and many beach clubs close for maintenance. The ruins close during severe weather, which defeats half the purpose of coming.
For the best experience, arrive Tuesday or Wednesday to avoid weekend crowds from Cancún and Playa del Carmen day-trippers.
