Yangon in August

Not the best time

August maintains July's challenging conditions with persistent rain and humidity that make outdoor activities nearly impossible. This is definitely low season for good reason.

Weather

August continues the monsoon pattern with heavy rainfall and suffocating humidity. Temperatures remain around 29°C, but the combination of heat and moisture creates an uncomfortable sauna-like environment.

August Tips

  • Embrace the rain - it's part of the monsoon experience
  • Choose accommodation in central areas to minimize travel during downpours
  • Waterproof everything including shoes and bags

All Months

November through March delivers Yangon at its most bearable. Temperatures hover around 75-85°F and rain is rare. December and January are peak season — book accommodations early. The cool season means you can actually walk around Shwedagon Pagoda without melting. April kicks off the hot season and it's brutal — temperatures hit 100°F+ and the humidity is crushing. May brings the monsoon, which continues through October. But here's the upside of rainy season: fewer tourists, lower prices, and the city looks incredibly green. Just pack an umbrella and waterproof shoes. The rains usually come in afternoon downpours, not all-day drizzle. Local festivals like Thingyan (April) are worth experiencing despite the heat.
