Bukhara in August
Not the best time
August maintains the summer heat that makes outdoor exploration nearly impossible. Even locals avoid unnecessary time outside during daylight hours.
Weather
August continues July's brutal heat with no relief in sight. Temperatures remain dangerously high, and the sun beats down relentlessly on the exposed courtyards and streets. The dry air sucks moisture from everything, including you.

August Tips
- •This is the month to skip Bukhara entirely
- •If stuck here, embrace the siesta lifestyle - sleep through the afternoon heat
- •Ice cream vendors around Lyab-i Hauz become your lifeline
All Months
April through May is perfect. Spring temperatures hover around 70-75°F and the desert hasn't turned brutal yet. Apricot trees bloom in courtyards and the light is golden all day long.
September and October bring the best weather of the year. Days are warm but comfortable, nights are cool enough for sleeping, and the summer crowds have gone home. This is prime time for photography — the light on those ancient walls is incredible.
Avoid July and August unless you enjoy 100°F heat bouncing off stone streets. The sun here is relentless and shade is precious. Winter can be surprisingly cold with temperatures dropping below freezing, though you'll have the place mostly to yourself.
