Good time to visit
March is a gamble weather-wise but rewards visitors with Navruz celebrations and the first signs of spring. Prices stay reasonable and crowds remain light.
Weather
March marks the real start of spring with wildly unpredictable weather. One day brings warm sunshine, the next dumps rain or even late snow. The desert begins to green up slightly, and dust storms become more common as winds pick up.

All Months
April through May is perfect. Spring temperatures hover around 70-75°F and the desert hasn't turned brutal yet. Apricot trees bloom in courtyards and the light is golden all day long.
September and October bring the best weather of the year. Days are warm but comfortable, nights are cool enough for sleeping, and the summer crowds have gone home. This is prime time for photography — the light on those ancient walls is incredible.
Avoid July and August unless you enjoy 100°F heat bouncing off stone streets. The sun here is relentless and shade is precious. Winter can be surprisingly cold with temperatures dropping below freezing, though you'll have the place mostly to yourself.
