Bukhara in May
Great time to visit
May represents peak travel conditions before summer's brutal heat arrives. Expect higher prices but weather that makes every monument visit a pleasure rather than an endurance test.
Weather
May brings near-perfect conditions with warm, sunny days and pleasantly cool nights. The desert air remains dry and comfortable, though temperatures start climbing toward summer levels by month's end. Rain becomes rare.

May Tips
- •Start your sightseeing early to avoid the midday heat building up
- •Perfect month for staying in traditional courtyard hotels
- •Stock up on sunscreen and a hat - the desert sun intensifies quickly
All Months
April through May is perfect. Spring temperatures hover around 70-75°F and the desert hasn't turned brutal yet. Apricot trees bloom in courtyards and the light is golden all day long.
September and October bring the best weather of the year. Days are warm but comfortable, nights are cool enough for sleeping, and the summer crowds have gone home. This is prime time for photography — the light on those ancient walls is incredible.
Avoid July and August unless you enjoy 100°F heat bouncing off stone streets. The sun here is relentless and shade is precious. Winter can be surprisingly cold with temperatures dropping below freezing, though you'll have the place mostly to yourself.
