Bukhara in June
Not the best time
June marks the start of summer's punishing heat. Only heat-tolerant travelers should consider this month, though you'll find lower prices and fewer crowds.
Weather
June cranks up the heat significantly with scorching days that make afternoon sightseeing brutal. Nights provide some relief but remain warm. The air becomes oppressively dry, and shade becomes your best friend around the ancient sites.

June Tips
- •Plan all outdoor activities before 10am and after 6pm
- •Carry extra water - dehydration hits faster than you expect in this dry heat
- •Seek out air-conditioned restaurants and tea houses during midday hours
All Months
April through May is perfect. Spring temperatures hover around 70-75°F and the desert hasn't turned brutal yet. Apricot trees bloom in courtyards and the light is golden all day long.
September and October bring the best weather of the year. Days are warm but comfortable, nights are cool enough for sleeping, and the summer crowds have gone home. This is prime time for photography — the light on those ancient walls is incredible.
Avoid July and August unless you enjoy 100°F heat bouncing off stone streets. The sun here is relentless and shade is precious. Winter can be surprisingly cold with temperatures dropping below freezing, though you'll have the place mostly to yourself.
