Hiroshima in April

Great time to visit

April is peak cherry blossom season with perfect weather but massive crowds and inflated prices. The city transforms into a pink wonderland that justifies the hassle.

Weather

April delivers Hiroshima's famous cherry blossom season with mild, pleasant temperatures perfect for hanami picnics. Expect some rainy days mixed with gloriously sunny ones. The weather can be unpredictable - pack for both sun and rain.

April Tips

  • Book hotels 6 months ahead or expect to pay premium rates
  • Arrive at popular spots like Peace Memorial Park before 8am
  • Download hanami apps to track bloom status across different neighborhoods

All Months

March through May brings cherry blossoms and perfect weather. The Peace Park becomes a sea of pink petals in early April, and temperatures hover around 20°C. Book accommodations early — this is peak season. September through November offers the sweet spot of fewer crowds and comfortable weather. Fall colors on Miyajima Island are spectacular, especially around Momijidani Park in late November. Summer gets brutally hot and humid. We're talking 35°C with 80% humidity in July and August. But if you can handle it, summer festivals light up the city, and you'll have popular spots more to yourself. Winter stays mild compared to northern Japan, but many outdoor activities on Miyajima shut down. The upside? Hotel prices drop significantly, and you'll have the memorial sites almost to yourself.
