Hiroshima in June

Good time to visit

June brings the rainy season with constant humidity and frequent downpours. Tourist numbers drop along with prices, but the weather can be miserable.

Weather

June marks the beginning of tsuyu (rainy season) with frequent downpours and high humidity. Temperatures rise but the constant moisture makes it feel hotter. Expect gray skies and muggy conditions most days.

June Tips

  • Invest in a good umbrella and waterproof shoes
  • Indoor attractions like the Peace Memorial Museum become more appealing
  • Hotel rates drop significantly due to unpopular weather

All Months

March through May brings cherry blossoms and perfect weather. The Peace Park becomes a sea of pink petals in early April, and temperatures hover around 20°C. Book accommodations early — this is peak season. September through November offers the sweet spot of fewer crowds and comfortable weather. Fall colors on Miyajima Island are spectacular, especially around Momijidani Park in late November. Summer gets brutally hot and humid. We're talking 35°C with 80% humidity in July and August. But if you can handle it, summer festivals light up the city, and you'll have popular spots more to yourself. Winter stays mild compared to northern Japan, but many outdoor activities on Miyajima shut down. The upside? Hotel prices drop significantly, and you'll have the memorial sites almost to yourself.
