Klaipėda in March

Good time to visit

March sits in that awkward transition where winter refuses to leave but spring hasn't quite arrived. You'll catch Klaipėda starting to wake up, but the weather remains unpredictable and often dreary.

Weather

March brings the first hints that winter might eventually end, though snow still appears regularly. Temperatures creep above freezing more often, but expect plenty of gray, drizzly days. The daylight hours start extending noticeably.

March Tips

  • Layer clothing - temperatures swing wildly from morning to afternoon
  • Many seasonal attractions start reopening mid-month but with limited schedules
  • March is excellent for hotel deals before the spring rush begins

All Months

May through September gives you the warmest weather and longest days, but each month has its personality. June brings white nights and fewer crowds — sunset happens after 10 PM, giving you endless golden hours for photography. July and August mean festival season and packed restaurants, plus water temperatures hit 18°C if you're brave enough for Baltic swimming. September offers my favorite compromise: warm days, cool nights, and locals returning from summer holidays. The Sea Festival in late July draws 300,000 visitors, transforming the sleepy port into a massive party. Book accommodation months ahead if you're coming then. Winter is brutal — temperatures drop to -5°C and daylight lasts maybe 7 hours. But if you can handle the cold, you'll have the city to yourself and hotel prices drop by 40%.
