Lahaina in August
Good time to visit
August delivers Lahaina's hottest, most crowded conditions. The heat can be overwhelming for some visitors, and everywhere is packed with families. Only visit if you thrive in hot, busy environments.
Weather
August continues July's heat pattern with high humidity and blazing midday sun. Trade winds provide some relief, but you'll feel drained walking around Lahaina during peak hours. Virtually no rain to cool things down.

All Months
April through June gives you the sweet spot – fewer crowds, lower prices, and perfect weather. Hotel rates drop significantly after Easter, and you'll actually find parking spaces in town. Ocean temperatures hover around 78 degrees, ideal for snorkeling at Molokini Crater.
September through November offers another excellent window. Hurricane season technically runs through November, but storms rarely impact Maui directly. The trade winds keep temperatures comfortable, and you'll avoid both summer crowds and winter whale watching masses.
Winter brings humpback whales to Maui's waters, making December through March prime time for whale watching tours. But expect crowds, especially around holidays. Hotel rates spike during Christmas and New Year's weeks – we're talking $600+ per night at mid-range properties. The upside? Surf's up on the north shore, and temperatures rarely exceed 85 degrees.
