Great time to visit

The sweet spot begins. Weather hits that perfect zone for exploring, crowds remain manageable, and the desert starts showing signs of life.

Weather

March signals spring's arrival with warming days and cool, comfortable nights. The temperature swings become less dramatic as winter loosens its grip. Rainfall stays minimal, maintaining that signature desert dryness.

All Months

October through April offers the best weather in this high desert climate. Daytime temperatures hover in the 60s-70s, perfect for walking between galleries and outdoor installations. Winter months (December-February) can get surprisingly cold at night – temperatures drop into the 20s-30s. But sunny days remain pleasant, and you'll have the town mostly to yourself. Spring (March-April) brings wildflowers to the surrounding desert and ideal weather conditions. This is peak season for good reason. Summer is brutal. June through August sees temperatures regularly hit 100°F with intense sun and little shade. Most outdoor art installations become uncomfortable to visit during midday hours. Special events drive accommodation prices up. The Marfa Myths music festival (April) and various art openings throughout the year create mini-rush periods. Monsoon season (July-September) brings afternoon thunderstorms that can flood low-lying areas and make dirt roads impassable. But the lightning shows are spectacular.
