Milan in March

Good time to visit

March teases you with glimpses of spring while keeping winter's grip. Fashion Week adds energy to the city, but you'll still need that coat for evening strolls through Porta Venezia.

Weather

March marks the slow climb toward spring, with highs reaching a more comfortable 15°C. Morning frost becomes rare, though evenings still require a jacket. Rain drops to about 10 days, often coming as brief afternoon showers.

  • Outdoor aperitivo season starts at Porta Garibaldi

All Months

April through June is Milan at its best. Temperatures hit 20-25°C, outdoor seating opens up, and the city shakes off winter's gray mood. Fashion Week in April brings energy (and crowds). September and October offer perfect weather without summer's humidity. This is when locals return from vacation and the city buzzes with new energy. Fashion Week strikes again in September. Summer gets sticky. July and August see temperatures around 30°C with humidity that makes walking uncomfortable. Many restaurants close for vacation in August. But hotel prices drop significantly. Winter is gray and damp, but La Scala season runs October through March. If opera matters more than sunshine, this is your time. Christmas markets around Duomo add some charm to the dreariness. Avoid Fashion Week unless you're in the industry. Hotel prices triple, restaurants fill up, and the city becomes a circus of influencers and industry types.
