Pisa in July
Not the best time
July means dealing with serious heat and the year's biggest crowds. But the long summer evenings and festival atmosphere can make it worthwhile if you plan around the temperature.
Weather
July brings intense heat with temperatures regularly pushing 30°C and virtually no rainfall. The sun beats down on the marble monuments, making midday visits to the tower almost unbearable. Humidity from the nearby coast adds to the discomfort.

July Tips
- •Visit the Leaning Tower before 9 AM or after 6 PM to avoid peak heat and crowds
- •Many locals escape to the coast - join them at Marina di Pisa for afternoon beach breaks
- •Restaurants serve lighter summer menus with more seafood from nearby Livorno
All Months
April through June gives you perfect weather without summer crowds. Temperatures hover around 20°C, and you can actually get decent photos of the tower without fighting hordes of tourists.
September and October are golden months. The summer heat breaks, but restaurants and attractions stay open. Plus, university students return, bringing energy back to the bars and cafes.
Skip July and August unless you enjoy sweating through 35°C heat while queuing for an hour to climb the tower. Crowds peak during these months, and many locals flee to the coast.
Winter works if you're chasing budget prices and don't mind gray skies. Hotels drop rates by 40%, but some restaurants close, and the tower climb gets cancelled in bad weather. December through February sees frequent rain.
