Pisa in June

Great time to visit

June delivers classic Italian summer weather and some of Pisa's best festivals. The crowds are substantial but the long days and warm evenings make it magical.

Weather

June brings warm summer weather with long, sunny days and very little rain. Temperatures climb steadily through the month, making early mornings and late evenings the most comfortable times to explore. The heat reflects off the white marble of the cathedral complex.

Events & Festivals

  • Luminara di San Ranieri (June 16)
  • Regata di San Ranieri (June 17)
  • Giugno Pisano festival

June Tips

  • The Luminara festival lights up the entire Arno riverfront with candles - book accommodation months ahead
  • Avoid midday tower climbs - the metal stairs get uncomfortably hot
  • Gelaterias stay open late to serve the evening crowds along Corso Italia

All Months

April through June gives you perfect weather without summer crowds. Temperatures hover around 20°C, and you can actually get decent photos of the tower without fighting hordes of tourists. September and October are golden months. The summer heat breaks, but restaurants and attractions stay open. Plus, university students return, bringing energy back to the bars and cafes. Skip July and August unless you enjoy sweating through 35°C heat while queuing for an hour to climb the tower. Crowds peak during these months, and many locals flee to the coast. Winter works if you're chasing budget prices and don't mind gray skies. Hotels drop rates by 40%, but some restaurants close, and the tower climb gets cancelled in bad weather. December through February sees frequent rain.
