Skopje in February
Not the best time
February remains harsh and unwelcoming weather-wise. But if you can handle the cold, you'll find dirt-cheap accommodation and zero crowds at major sights.
Weather
February stays cold with regular snowfall and freezing temperatures. The days are slightly longer than January but still short and often overcast. Expect icy sidewalks and slushy streets as snow melts and refreezes.

All Months
April through June gives you perfect weather without the summer heat that can hit 35°C. The city comes alive after the harsh Balkan winter, and café terraces reopen along the Vardar.
September and October might be even better. Temperatures hover around 20°C, summer crowds disappear, and the surrounding mountains show off their autumn colors. Plus, restaurant terraces stay busy until late October.
Winter (December-February) sees temperatures drop to -5°C, but Christmas markets pop up in Macedonia Square. Hotels cut rates in half, and you'll have the Old Bazaar mostly to yourself. Just pack layers.
Skip July and August unless you love sweating through sightseeing. The concrete and marble of the city center creates a heat island effect. Locals flee to Lake Ohrid, leaving restaurants with reduced hours.
Look, any time works if you're on a budget. Even peak summer hotel rates rarely exceed €60 per night for decent places.
