Tallinn in February
Not the best time
February remains one of the coldest months, but Independence Day celebrations add cultural depth to your visit. The city feels more alive than January as locals prepare for spring. Still not ideal unless you specifically want winter atmosphere and rock-bottom hotel prices.
Weather
February stays bitterly cold with highs barely reaching 0°C. Snow and slush dominate the streets, while humidity from the Baltic Sea makes everything feel colder than the thermometer shows. Daylight slowly increases to about 8 hours by month's end.

All Months
May through September gives you the best weather and longest days — we're talking 19 hours of daylight in June. July and August bring crowds but also the warmest temperatures, around 20-25°C. This is when Old Town feels alive with street performers and outdoor cafes.
My favorite time? Late May or early September. The weather stays pleasant, tourist numbers drop, and you get that perfect balance of daylight and manageable crowds. September also brings mushroom season — locals head to the forests, and restaurants feature wild chanterelles and porcini.
Winter has its own magic if you can handle the cold. Christmas markets fill Town Hall Square from late November, and the medieval setting looks straight out of a snow globe. But we're talking 6 hours of daylight and temperatures around -5°C. The upside? Hotel prices drop by 50%, and you'll have major attractions almost to yourself.
Here's the thing about Baltic weather: it's unpredictable. Pack layers regardless of season. I've seen snow in May and 25°C days in October. The good news is most attractions are indoors, so a rainy day won't ruin your plans. Just remember that many outdoor restaurants and some museums reduce hours between October and April.
