Tallinn in November

Good time to visit

November is honestly pretty depressing with constant gray skies and cold rain. The film festival adds cultural value, but short dark days and miserable weather make sightseeing a chore. Only recommended if you specifically love moody autumn atmospheres or need rock-bottom prices.

Weather

November plunges into pre-winter gloom with gray 4°C days and near-freezing nights. Rain mixes with sleet and occasional snow flurries. Darkness dominates with only 7 hours of weak daylight, and humidity from the Baltic makes everything feel colder and damper.

All Months

May through September gives you the best weather and longest days — we're talking 19 hours of daylight in June. July and August bring crowds but also the warmest temperatures, around 20-25°C. This is when Old Town feels alive with street performers and outdoor cafes. My favorite time? Late May or early September. The weather stays pleasant, tourist numbers drop, and you get that perfect balance of daylight and manageable crowds. September also brings mushroom season — locals head to the forests, and restaurants feature wild chanterelles and porcini. Winter has its own magic if you can handle the cold. Christmas markets fill Town Hall Square from late November, and the medieval setting looks straight out of a snow globe. But we're talking 6 hours of daylight and temperatures around -5°C. The upside? Hotel prices drop by 50%, and you'll have major attractions almost to yourself. Here's the thing about Baltic weather: it's unpredictable. Pack layers regardless of season. I've seen snow in May and 25°C days in October. The good news is most attractions are indoors, so a rainy day won't ruin your plans. Just remember that many outdoor restaurants and some museums reduce hours between October and April.
