Tallinn in October
Good time to visit
October is moody and atmospheric with golden leaves and frequent rain creating a romantic autumn backdrop. Tourist crowds are minimal, making it ideal for museum hopping and cozy cafe sessions. The shorter days and persistent drizzle aren't for everyone, but budget travelers will love the lower prices.
Weather
October delivers proper autumn with cool 9°C days and chilly 4°C nights that require jackets. Rain dominates the weather pattern with frequent drizzles and overcast skies. Daylight shrinks noticeably to about 10 hours, and autumn colors peak in the city's parks.

All Months
May through September gives you the best weather and longest days — we're talking 19 hours of daylight in June. July and August bring crowds but also the warmest temperatures, around 20-25°C. This is when Old Town feels alive with street performers and outdoor cafes.
My favorite time? Late May or early September. The weather stays pleasant, tourist numbers drop, and you get that perfect balance of daylight and manageable crowds. September also brings mushroom season — locals head to the forests, and restaurants feature wild chanterelles and porcini.
Winter has its own magic if you can handle the cold. Christmas markets fill Town Hall Square from late November, and the medieval setting looks straight out of a snow globe. But we're talking 6 hours of daylight and temperatures around -5°C. The upside? Hotel prices drop by 50%, and you'll have major attractions almost to yourself.
Here's the thing about Baltic weather: it's unpredictable. Pack layers regardless of season. I've seen snow in May and 25°C days in October. The good news is most attractions are indoors, so a rainy day won't ruin your plans. Just remember that many outdoor restaurants and some museums reduce hours between October and April.
