Tangier in July

Not the best time

July brings peak summer heat and peak tourist chaos. Great if you love hot beach weather and don't mind paying premium prices and fighting crowds.

Weather

July cranks up the heat with hot, dry days and warm nights. Humidity climbs to around 80%, making it feel stickier than the temperature suggests. The good news? Rain is virtually nonexistent. The Atlantic provides some relief, but it's definitely summer.

Events & Festivals

  • Eid al-Fitr (if Ramadan was in June)
  • Jazz au Chellah Festival (Rabat, worth the trip)

July Tips

  • Book everything months ahead - hotels, restaurants, even beaches get crowded
  • Plan major sightseeing for early morning or late afternoon
  • Air conditioning becomes non-negotiable in your accommodation

All Months

March through May brings perfect weather—warm days, cool nights, and fewer crowds. The medina feels manageable, and outdoor cafés buzz with energy. Hotel rates stay reasonable, and you won't sweat through every sightseeing walk. September through November works almost as well. The summer heat breaks, but the sea stays warm enough for swimming. October is especially sweet—clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and the city shaking off its summer lethargy. Summer gets brutal. July and August see temperatures hitting 35°C (95°F) with crushing humidity. The medina becomes an oven, and many locals flee to the mountains. But ferry connections increase, and beach clubs come alive if you can handle the heat. Winter brings unpredictable weather. December through February can be gloriously sunny or miserably rainy. The Atlantic winds cut through even warm clothes. But hotel rates drop by 40%, and you'll have major sights mostly to yourself.
