Tangier in September

Great time to visit

September offers the best of both worlds - still warm enough for beach activities but comfortable for walking around. Crowds thin out slightly from summer madness.

Weather

September brings blessed relief as temperatures start dropping and humidity decreases to more comfortable levels around 70%. You still get warm, sunny days perfect for the beach, but nights become pleasantly cool again. Rain remains almost nonexistent.

September Tips

  • Perfect time to combine beach days with medina exploration
  • Hotel rates start dropping from August peaks
  • Ideal weather for day trips to the Rif Mountains

All Months

March through May brings perfect weather—warm days, cool nights, and fewer crowds. The medina feels manageable, and outdoor cafés buzz with energy. Hotel rates stay reasonable, and you won't sweat through every sightseeing walk. September through November works almost as well. The summer heat breaks, but the sea stays warm enough for swimming. October is especially sweet—clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and the city shaking off its summer lethargy. Summer gets brutal. July and August see temperatures hitting 35°C (95°F) with crushing humidity. The medina becomes an oven, and many locals flee to the mountains. But ferry connections increase, and beach clubs come alive if you can handle the heat. Winter brings unpredictable weather. December through February can be gloriously sunny or miserably rainy. The Atlantic winds cut through even warm clothes. But hotel rates drop by 40%, and you'll have major sights mostly to yourself.
