Tangier in May

Great time to visit

May is when Tangier shows off its best side. Expect higher prices and more crowds, but the weather is absolutely perfect for any activity.

Weather

May delivers warm, sunny days with almost no rain and low humidity. The temperature sits in that perfect zone where you're comfortable in shorts during the day and need just a light sweater at night. The Atlantic keeps things from getting too hot.

May Tips

  • Book hotels well in advance - this is peak shoulder season
  • Perfect weather for exploring Cap Spartel and the Atlantic coast
  • Sunscreen becomes essential even though it's not brutally hot yet

All Months

March through May brings perfect weather—warm days, cool nights, and fewer crowds. The medina feels manageable, and outdoor cafés buzz with energy. Hotel rates stay reasonable, and you won't sweat through every sightseeing walk. September through November works almost as well. The summer heat breaks, but the sea stays warm enough for swimming. October is especially sweet—clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and the city shaking off its summer lethargy. Summer gets brutal. July and August see temperatures hitting 35°C (95°F) with crushing humidity. The medina becomes an oven, and many locals flee to the mountains. But ferry connections increase, and beach clubs come alive if you can handle the heat. Winter brings unpredictable weather. December through February can be gloriously sunny or miserably rainy. The Atlantic winds cut through even warm clothes. But hotel rates drop by 40%, and you'll have major sights mostly to yourself.
