Banda Islands in February

Not the best time

February shows the first signs of the monsoon weakening, but you're still dealing with frequent rain and limited activities. Better than January, but not by much.

Weather

February continues the wet season but with slightly less intensity than January. Rain still falls most days, usually in afternoon thunderstorms. The seas remain choppy and humid conditions persist around 80-85%.

February Tips

  • Some dive sites remain accessible on calmer days
  • Nutmeg processing season - visit spice gardens between rain showers
  • Book accommodation in advance as fewer places stay open

All Months

April through October brings the driest weather and calmest seas. May and June offer the best conditions — minimal rain, light winds, and excellent underwater visibility. July and August see more visitors, though 'crowded' here means maybe 50 tourists total. September and October can be perfect, with warm water and clear skies. But weather patterns have become less predictable in recent years. November through March brings monsoon rains and rough seas. Ferry services get canceled regularly, and diving conditions deteriorate. Many guesthouses close during this period. If you're stuck due to weather, embrace it — there are worse places to be stranded than a tropical island with 400-year-old nutmeg trees.
