Banda Islands in October

Great time to visit

October offers the best of both worlds - still great weather and diving, but with fewer tourists and lower prices as peak season winds down.

Weather

October marks the end of peak dry season with occasional light showers returning. Temperatures rise slightly as trade winds become less consistent. Humidity increases to around 72% but conditions remain very pleasant.

October Tips

  • Prices start dropping as tourist numbers decrease
  • Still excellent diving conditions before visibility drops
  • Good time to explore cultural sites without crowds

All Months

April through October brings the driest weather and calmest seas. May and June offer the best conditions — minimal rain, light winds, and excellent underwater visibility. July and August see more visitors, though 'crowded' here means maybe 50 tourists total. September and October can be perfect, with warm water and clear skies. But weather patterns have become less predictable in recent years. November through March brings monsoon rains and rough seas. Ferry services get canceled regularly, and diving conditions deteriorate. Many guesthouses close during this period. If you're stuck due to weather, embrace it — there are worse places to be stranded than a tropical island with 400-year-old nutmeg trees.
