Banda Islands in September

Great time to visit

September delivers another month of excellent conditions with slightly fewer crowds than August. Still expensive, but the weather and diving conditions justify the cost.

Weather

September continues the dry season excellence with minimal rainfall. Temperatures remain comfortable and humidity hovers around 68%. Trade winds are reliable and seas stay calm for excellent diving and snorkeling.

September Tips

  • Still peak season pricing but crowds start to thin slightly
  • Excellent time for serious divers - all sites accessible
  • Consider staying longer as day rates remain high

All Months

April through October brings the driest weather and calmest seas. May and June offer the best conditions — minimal rain, light winds, and excellent underwater visibility. July and August see more visitors, though 'crowded' here means maybe 50 tourists total. September and October can be perfect, with warm water and clear skies. But weather patterns have become less predictable in recent years. November through March brings monsoon rains and rough seas. Ferry services get canceled regularly, and diving conditions deteriorate. Many guesthouses close during this period. If you're stuck due to weather, embrace it — there are worse places to be stranded than a tropical island with 400-year-old nutmeg trees.
