Cali in April

Not the best time

Not the ideal time unless you don't mind regular rain interruptions. But if you can handle the humidity and afternoon storms, you'll find great deals and fewer tourists.

Weather

April ushers in the first rainy season with regular afternoon thunderstorms. Humidity jumps significantly, making the heat feel more oppressive. Mornings often start clear before clouds build up by noon.

April Tips

  • Plan indoor activities for afternoons when storms typically hit
  • Hotels offer significant discounts during this transitional period
  • The rain cools things down beautifully in the evenings

All Months

December through February brings perfect weather — sunny days around 80°F with minimal rain. This is peak season though, so expect higher hotel prices and crowded salsa clubs. Book accommodations early if you're coming during Christmas or New Year's. June through August offers another sweet spot with great weather and fewer crowds than the December rush. Hotel prices drop by about 20%, and you'll have more space to breathe at popular spots like Parque del Perro. Avoid March through May and September through November — these are rainy months with afternoon downpours that can last hours. The rain isn't necessarily a deal-breaker, but it limits outdoor activities and makes getting around more challenging. Feria de Cali happens the last week of December and is absolutely electric if you love salsa. The entire city becomes one giant dance party. But if crowds and noise aren't your thing, skip this week entirely.
