Good time to visit

Heat becomes a real factor but manageable if you adjust your schedule. Fewer tourists mean better prices but some restaurants reduce hours during the hottest part of the day.

Hot season begins in earnest with sweltering afternoons and warm nights. Humidity climbs noticeably and occasional thunderstorms start appearing. Mornings are still bearable for outdoor activities.

All Months

November through March delivers perfect weather — dry, sunny, and temperatures in the comfortable 70s-80s. This is peak season, so book accommodations ahead and expect higher prices. April gets hot. Really hot. Temperatures push into the 90s with oppressive humidity. But you'll have the place mostly to yourself, and room rates drop by half. The rainy season (May-October) brings afternoon downpours that cool things down but can flood the streets. Some guesthouses close, and boat trips get cancelled. But the countryside turns emerald green, and you'll see Kampot at its most atmospheric — just pack an umbrella.
