Kampot in July

Not the best time

This is monsoon season at its worst. Unless you're fascinated by tropical storms or desperate to save money, skip Kampot entirely in July.

Weather

Peak wet season with heavy daily rains and oppressive humidity. Storms can last all afternoon and flooding is common in low-lying areas. Everything feels permanently damp.

July Tips

  • Bring anti-fungal powder - everything grows mold
  • July floods often close roads to Bokor Mountain
  • Some guesthouses offer long-term rates for weather refugees

All Months

November through March delivers perfect weather — dry, sunny, and temperatures in the comfortable 70s-80s. This is peak season, so book accommodations ahead and expect higher prices. April gets hot. Really hot. Temperatures push into the 90s with oppressive humidity. But you'll have the place mostly to yourself, and room rates drop by half. The rainy season (May-October) brings afternoon downpours that cool things down but can flood the streets. Some guesthouses close, and boat trips get cancelled. But the countryside turns emerald green, and you'll see Kampot at its most atmospheric — just pack an umbrella.
