Kasane in June

Great time to visit

June delivers postcard-perfect weather but comes with peak-season crowds and prices. The wildlife viewing justifies the cost - this is when Chobe shows off.

Weather

June brings crisp, clear days that make you want to spend every hour outside. Nights turn genuinely cold - you'll dig out that fleece you forgot you packed. Zero humidity means your camera lens won't fog up every five minutes.

Events & Festivals

  • Sir Seretse Khama Day (July 1 - often celebrated in late June)

June Tips

  • Pack serious warm clothes - mornings can drop to 5°C and feel brutal in open vehicles
  • Book everything 2-3 months ahead - this is peak season pricing and availability
  • Bring lip balm and moisturizer - the dry air will crack your skin

All Months

May through October is prime time. The dry season means animals concentrate around the Chobe River, creating incredible viewing opportunities. July and August see massive elephant herds - we're talking 500+ animals at a time coming down to drink. But it's also peak season, so expect higher prices and more tourists. September and October get seriously hot - 40°C days aren't uncommon - but the wildlife viewing is phenomenal. November through April is wet season. The landscape turns green and beautiful, but animals disperse inland where there's water everywhere. Many camps close, and those that stay open offer big discounts. If you can handle some rain and fewer animals, it's actually quite lovely. Just know that some roads become impassable.
