Kasane in October
Great time to visit
October offers the last hurrah of prime wildlife viewing before the rains return. The increasing heat makes every outdoor activity feel like a race against the thermometer.
Weather
October brings serious heat that builds through the month, with afternoons becoming genuinely punishing by month's end. Mornings start warm instead of cold, and humidity begins creeping back. The first isolated thunderclouds appear but rarely deliver rain.

October Tips
- •Focus on early morning and evening activities - midday heat becomes brutal
- •Book river cruises over land-based safaris - the breeze provides relief
- •Carry extra water and electrolyte supplements - dehydration happens fast
All Months
May through October is prime time. The dry season means animals concentrate around the Chobe River, creating incredible viewing opportunities. July and August see massive elephant herds - we're talking 500+ animals at a time coming down to drink. But it's also peak season, so expect higher prices and more tourists. September and October get seriously hot - 40°C days aren't uncommon - but the wildlife viewing is phenomenal. November through April is wet season. The landscape turns green and beautiful, but animals disperse inland where there's water everywhere. Many camps close, and those that stay open offer big discounts. If you can handle some rain and fewer animals, it's actually quite lovely. Just know that some roads become impassable.
