Manali in May
Good time to visit
May delivers peak season crowds and peak season prices, but also peak season weather. The mountains offer a cool escape from India's brutal heat, making every rupee feel worth it.
Weather
May brings warmer days that feel perfect in the mountains while the plains swelter. Evenings remain pleasantly cool with clear skies dominating. Occasional pre-monsoon showers appear toward month's end but don't disrupt plans significantly.

All Months
November through April is peak season for good reason. Temperatures hover around 25°C and humidity drops to bearable levels. You can actually walk around during the day without melting. Hotel prices jump during this period, especially around Formula 1 in March.
December and January offer the best weather but expect crowds. The Manali shopping festival runs through January, bringing deals but also packed malls and restaurants. Book accommodations early if you're visiting during these months.
May through October is brutal. We're talking 40°C+ with humidity that makes breathing feel like work. But here's the thing - hotel rates drop by 40-50% and you'll have attractions mostly to yourself. The malls become your refuge, and evening activities start after 8 PM when the sun finally shows mercy.
