Munnar in August
Not the best time
Still deep in monsoon season with challenging travel conditions. While prices remain low, the weather limitations make it tough to enjoy Munnar's main attractions.
Weather
August maintains monsoon conditions with continued heavy rainfall and overcast skies. Temperatures stay moderate but the relentless humidity and wet conditions make outdoor exploration challenging. Landslides occasionally affect road access.

August Tips
- •Check road conditions before traveling as some routes may be blocked
- •Book stays with backup power as outages are frequent
- •Consider postponing if you're planning adventure activities
All Months
October through May gives you the best weather – clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and minimal rain. December and January can actually get cold enough for sweaters, with temperatures dropping to 5°C at night. This is peak season though, so expect crowds and inflated prices. The monsoons from June to September transform the landscape into something otherworldly – everything turns impossibly green and waterfalls appear overnight. But heavy rains make some roads impassable and outdoor activities risky. Here's the sweet spot: visit in October or April for good weather without the December-January crowds. The tea plants look their greenest just after monsoon season ends.
