Munnar in June

Not the best time

Monsoon season hits hard with relentless rain and limited outdoor activities. Only visit if you're seeking rock-bottom prices and don't mind being stuck indoors frequently.

Weather

June marks monsoon's arrival with heavy, consistent rainfall and high humidity. Temperatures moderate due to cloud cover but the constant dampness can feel oppressive. Expect daily downpours.

June Tips

  • Bring serious rain gear - umbrellas won't cut it
  • Many outdoor activities get cancelled due to weather
  • Book covered accommodations as power outages are common

All Months

October through May gives you the best weather – clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and minimal rain. December and January can actually get cold enough for sweaters, with temperatures dropping to 5°C at night. This is peak season though, so expect crowds and inflated prices. The monsoons from June to September transform the landscape into something otherworldly – everything turns impossibly green and waterfalls appear overnight. But heavy rains make some roads impassable and outdoor activities risky. Here's the sweet spot: visit in October or April for good weather without the December-January crowds. The tea plants look their greenest just after monsoon season ends.
