Munnar in July
Not the best time
Peak monsoon month with the heaviest rainfall. The tea estates look stunning in lush green, but you'll mostly be admiring them from covered viewpoints.
Weather
July continues the monsoon intensity with heavy rainfall and thick cloud cover. Humidity peaks and visibility often drops due to persistent mist and fog. The landscape turns incredibly green but accessibility suffers.

July Tips
- •Many trekking trails become dangerous and are closed
- •Indoor attractions like tea museums become your best bet
- •Waterproof everything - even inside buildings can get damp
All Months
October through May gives you the best weather – clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and minimal rain. December and January can actually get cold enough for sweaters, with temperatures dropping to 5°C at night. This is peak season though, so expect crowds and inflated prices. The monsoons from June to September transform the landscape into something otherworldly – everything turns impossibly green and waterfalls appear overnight. But heavy rains make some roads impassable and outdoor activities risky. Here's the sweet spot: visit in October or April for good weather without the December-January crowds. The tea plants look their greenest just after monsoon season ends.
