Nice in January
Not the best time
January's quiet and affordable, but half the city feels asleep. Great for exploring museums and the Old Town without crowds, just don't expect that postcard beach experience.
Weather
January brings crisp, clear days with plenty of sunshine, but it's genuinely cold by Riviera standards. Mornings hover around freezing, though afternoons warm up nicely. Rain comes in quick bursts rather than all-day drizzle.

- •Hotel prices drop significantly after New Year's week
All Months
May through June gives you warm weather without the crowds. September and October are golden—still swimmable but less chaotic. April can be lovely but unpredictable. July and August mean peak prices, packed beaches, and 30°C+ heat. Winter surprises people with its mildness—December averages 13°C and you'll find deals on hotels. But some restaurants close, and that famous light isn't quite the same. The Carnival in February brings energy but also crowds. Spring brings the film festival crowd to nearby Cannes, which affects Nice too.
