Nice in July

Good time to visit

July is Nice at full throttle - scorching hot, packed with tourists, and expensive as hell. The trade-off is perfect beach weather and a city that never sleeps.

Weather

July cranks up the heat with blazing sunshine and virtually no rain. Afternoons can feel oppressive, especially away from the water. The mistral wind provides occasional relief but also kicks up dust.

Events & Festivals

  • Festival de Jazz de Nice
  • Summer night markets
  • Bastille Day celebrations (July 14)

July Tips

  • Start sightseeing before 9am to beat both heat and crowds
  • Book dinner reservations weeks ahead or plan on eating very late
  • The beach gets impossibly crowded - consider private beach clubs

All Months

May through June gives you warm weather without the crowds. September and October are golden—still swimmable but less chaotic. April can be lovely but unpredictable. July and August mean peak prices, packed beaches, and 30°C+ heat. Winter surprises people with its mildness—December averages 13°C and you'll find deals on hotels. But some restaurants close, and that famous light isn't quite the same. The Carnival in February brings energy but also crowds. Spring brings the film festival crowd to nearby Cannes, which affects Nice too.
