Punakha in February
Good time to visit
February hits the sweet spot with excellent weather and manageable crowds. The New Year celebrations add cultural flavor without overwhelming the small town.
Weather
February continues the dry, sunny pattern with slightly warmer days. Morning frost occasionally dusts the terraced fields, but by noon you'll want to shed that heavy jacket. Rain is practically nonexistent.

All Months
March through May brings rhododendron blooms and clear mountain views, but also spring crowds at major sites. April hits the sweet spot — warm days, cool nights, and fewer tour groups than peak season.
September through November delivers the year's best weather. Crisp mornings, warm afternoons, and crystal-clear views of the Himalayas. October sees the most visitors, so book accommodations early.
Winter (December-February) means cold nights and limited heating, but also empty temples and cheaper rooms. The dzong looks spectacular dusted with snow, and you'll have most trails to yourself.
Avoid June through August unless you love leeches and daily downpours. Monsoon season turns trekking trails into mud slides and blocks mountain views with thick clouds.
