Tegucigalpa in August

Good time to visit

Back to serious rainy season business. Only come if you're genuinely okay with weather disrupting your plans or if you're chasing rock-bottom prices.

Weather

August sees the return of rainy season with a vengeance. The brief July break ends, and afternoon storms come back stronger. High humidity makes temperatures feel oppressive, and flooding becomes a real concern in some neighborhoods.

All Months

December through April gives you the dry season — clear mountain views and temperatures in the comfortable 70s-80s F. January and February are perfect, with cool mornings that warm up nicely by afternoon. But here's what the guidebooks don't tell you: the rainy season from May through November isn't actually that bad. Sure, it rains most afternoons, but mornings are often clear and the mountains look incredible wrapped in clouds. Plus, hotel prices drop 30-40%. Just pack an umbrella and embrace the drama. Avoid September and October when the rains get serious and some mountain roads become sketchy. Holy Week in March or April brings crowds and higher prices, but also the best street food and cultural events.
