Tegucigalpa in May
Not the best time
The shoulder season reality kicks in - cheaper and less crowded, but you'll be dodging raindrops. Good for budget travelers who don't mind getting wet.
Weather
May officially kicks off rainy season, though it's more like 'scattered showers season' early on. Temperatures climb higher, humidity becomes noticeable, and afternoon thunderstorms become a regular feature. Most rain falls in short, intense bursts.

All Months
December through April gives you the dry season — clear mountain views and temperatures in the comfortable 70s-80s F. January and February are perfect, with cool mornings that warm up nicely by afternoon. But here's what the guidebooks don't tell you: the rainy season from May through November isn't actually that bad. Sure, it rains most afternoons, but mornings are often clear and the mountains look incredible wrapped in clouds. Plus, hotel prices drop 30-40%. Just pack an umbrella and embrace the drama. Avoid September and October when the rains get serious and some mountain roads become sketchy. Holy Week in March or April brings crowds and higher prices, but also the best street food and cultural events.
