Sintra in June
Great time to visit
June is Sintra at its most gorgeous but also most crowded and expensive. The weather's fantastic but you'll be sharing those Instagram spots with everyone else.
Weather
June offers long, warm days with plenty of sunshine and very little rain. Temperatures are ideal for palace-hopping without overheating, though it can get quite warm in direct sun by mid-afternoon. The coastal areas provide nice relief with Atlantic breezes.

Events & Festivals
- •Festa de Santo António (June 13th)
- •Summer solstice celebrations
- •Festival de Sintra (classical music festival begins)
June Tips
- •Book everything 2-3 months ahead - hotels, restaurants, even tuk-tuk tours fill up
- •Visit major palaces before 9am or after 4pm to avoid the worst crowds
- •June evenings are perfect for late dinners - many restaurants don't even open until 7pm
All Months
April through June brings mild weather and blooming gardens without summer crowds. Rhododendrons and camellias flower in Monserrate's gardens, and you can actually enjoy Pena Palace's terraces in peace.
September and October offer the best compromise — warm days, fewer tourists, and autumn colors in the parks. Hotel prices drop 30% compared to summer peak.
July and August? Prepare for chaos. Temperatures hit 35°C, palaces overflow with tour groups, and restaurant waits stretch to an hour. If you must visit in summer, arrive at palace opening times (9:30 AM) or after 4 PM.
Winter (November-March) sees rain and shorter days, but you'll have places mostly to yourself. Some palace gardens look bare, but interiors stay impressive. Pack layers — hilltop temperatures drop 5-10 degrees below Lisbon.
