Versailles in October
Great time to visit
October offers beautiful autumn colors and fewer crowds as tourist season winds down. Weather's still decent for exploring, and prices start dropping from summer peaks.
Weather
October brings classic autumn weather with mild days and chilly mornings. Rain becomes more frequent but rarely lasts long. The palace gardens transform with golden leaves on the tree-lined pathways, creating postcard-perfect scenes especially around the Grand Trianon.

All Months
April through October offers the best weather and full garden access. May brings perfect temperatures and blooming flowers, but also the biggest crowds. September strikes the ideal balance – warm days, fewer tourists, and the gardens still look spectacular.
Winter visits work if you focus on the palace interiors. The Hall of Mirrors looks just as impressive in January, and you'll actually get photos without strangers in them. But Marie Antoinette's estate closes sections in winter, and the gardens lose their magic.
Arrive by 9 AM any season to beat the tour buses. Tuesday through Thursday see smaller crowds than weekends. The palace stays open until 6:30 PM in summer, giving you time to explore after the day-trippers leave.
