Vientiane in July
Not the best time
The wettest month of the year with near-daily deluges. Everything is green and lush, but getting around becomes an adventure in itself. Rock-bottom prices for the truly adventurous.
Weather
Peak wet season with intense daily thunderstorms. The Mekong River runs high and brown, and many streets turn into temporary rivers during heavy rains. Oppressive humidity between storms.

All Months
November through March gives you the best weather. Days hit 25-30°C, nights cool down to 15-20°C, and rain stays away. December and January are perfect — clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and the Mekong runs low enough to reveal sandy beaches.
April and May bring serious heat. Temperatures push past 35°C, and the air gets heavy before the rains start. But crowds disappear and prices drop. If you can handle the heat, you'll have temples mostly to yourself.
Rainy season runs June through October. It doesn't rain all day, but when it does, streets flood quickly. The upside? Everything turns green, the air clears, and accommodation costs hit rock bottom. Just pack good rain gear and flexible plans.
