Vientiane in March
Great time to visit
The sweet spot between perfect weather and reasonable prices. March gives you the tail end of the cool season without the peak season crowds and costs.
Weather
The last month of truly pleasant weather before the heat becomes oppressive. Days are warm but not punishing, and the air stays dry. Occasional dust from rural burning can make the air hazy.

All Months
November through March gives you the best weather. Days hit 25-30°C, nights cool down to 15-20°C, and rain stays away. December and January are perfect — clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and the Mekong runs low enough to reveal sandy beaches.
April and May bring serious heat. Temperatures push past 35°C, and the air gets heavy before the rains start. But crowds disappear and prices drop. If you can handle the heat, you'll have temples mostly to yourself.
Rainy season runs June through October. It doesn't rain all day, but when it does, streets flood quickly. The upside? Everything turns green, the air clears, and accommodation costs hit rock bottom. Just pack good rain gear and flexible plans.
