Alleppey in August
Not the best time
Slightly better than July but still solidly in monsoon season. A few more activities might be possible between rain spells. Only for travelers who genuinely enjoy monsoon atmospheres.
Weather
Monsoon continues but with slightly less intensity. Temperatures remain around 33°C while rain becomes more intermittent - you might get a few dry hours between downpours. Humidity stays oppressively high.

- •Mosquito repellent becomes essential with standing water everywhere
All Months
October through March is peak season for good reason — temperatures hover around 28°C and the monsoon damage is repaired. December and January see the most crowds and highest prices, but also the most reliable weather. February and March offer a sweet spot with fewer tourists but still pleasant conditions. Monsoon season (June to September) shuts down most houseboat operations, and for good reason — the backwaters turn choppy and dangerous. April and May are brutally hot, with temperatures hitting 35°C+ and humidity that makes breathing feel like work. Book houseboats at least two weeks ahead during peak season, especially around Christmas and New Year when prices double.
