Great time to visit
The backwaters come alive again after monsoon season. Comfortable temperatures and manageable humidity make this an excellent visiting month. Crowds haven't returned yet, so prices remain reasonable.
Weather
Post-monsoon freshness arrives like a gift. Temperatures drop to a comfortable 32°C while humidity finally becomes bearable. Occasional showers keep things green but don't disrupt activities much.

All Months
October through March is peak season for good reason — temperatures hover around 28°C and the monsoon damage is repaired. December and January see the most crowds and highest prices, but also the most reliable weather. February and March offer a sweet spot with fewer tourists but still pleasant conditions. Monsoon season (June to September) shuts down most houseboat operations, and for good reason — the backwaters turn choppy and dangerous. April and May are brutally hot, with temperatures hitting 35°C+ and humidity that makes breathing feel like work. Book houseboats at least two weeks ahead during peak season, especially around Christmas and New Year when prices double.
