Alleppey in September
Not the best time
Monsoon's last hurrah means unpredictable weather swings. Some days are beautiful, others are washouts. Better than peak monsoon but still risky for vacation planning.
Weather
Monsoon's final act brings intermittent heavy showers mixed with humid, overcast days. Temperatures rise slightly to 34°C as the season winds down. The air feels thick and sticky even when it's not actively raining.

September Tips
- •Weather becomes more unpredictable - sunny morning, stormy afternoon
- •Houseboat availability improves but services may still be limited
- •September is transition month - conditions vary wildly week to week
All Months
October through March is peak season for good reason — temperatures hover around 28°C and the monsoon damage is repaired. December and January see the most crowds and highest prices, but also the most reliable weather. February and March offer a sweet spot with fewer tourists but still pleasant conditions. Monsoon season (June to September) shuts down most houseboat operations, and for good reason — the backwaters turn choppy and dangerous. April and May are brutally hot, with temperatures hitting 35°C+ and humidity that makes breathing feel like work. Book houseboats at least two weeks ahead during peak season, especially around Christmas and New Year when prices double.
